Building Nurturing Communities is an initiative designed to develop a system to prevent children birth to five from developing emotional and behaviors disorders by:

• Educating and engaging the community about the importance of early social-emotional development and ways to prevent problems;
• Developing or assisting others to develop programs to provide direct services and support to children who are at risk of social-emotional problems;
• Providing training and technical assistance for professionals in the community who serve infants & young children; and
• Addressing the public policy changes that are needed to support infants, young children and their families.
